We re-crown exactly the same on a factory barrel as we do for a custom rifle to protect against further damage and enhance accuracy.

FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS

Crowns are often damaged by improper cleaning techniques, poor or no maintenance or accidental damage but can be rectified without much fuss.

Factory rifles often have poorly cut crowns and if a rifle accidentally suffers damage to the crown it often needs to be refinished. A simple operation but one that must be conducted with extreme precision, indexing the lathe to the centre of the bore and ensuring that the correct angle is achieved.

The crown is the last chance the barrel has to impart perfect accuracy on the bullet before it begins its journey to your target. If not exactly concentric, gas will escape unevenly around the base of the bullet and the resulting shot will be slightly unstable in flight.

It is imperative that the crown is perfectly true to within 0.001”.

At Riflecraft, we re-crown exactly the same on a factory barrel as we do for a custom rifle, with the bore dialled in first and then a two-stage crown cut to protect against further damage and enhance accuracy.
